COTMEANA Monastery -
Cotmeana commune, Arges County.
Cotmeana Monastery, convent for monks, was founded by Radu I and his sons, Dan I and Mircea the Old, between 1387-1389.
Dedication day: “Feat of the Annunciation”, 25 March.

CURTEA DE ARGES Monastery -
Curtea de Arges city, Arges county.
Neagoe Basarab founded Curtea de Arges Monastery, convent for
monks, in 1517. Painted by Dobromir, during the reign of
Radu from Afumati in 1526, Neagoe Basarab’s, Lady Despina’s,
Kings Carol’s I, Ferdinand and queens Elisabeta’s and
Maria’s tombs are to be found in the pronaos. Dedication
day: “Assumption of the Virgin”, 15 August.

NAMAESTI Monastery -
Valea Mare Pravat commune, Arges county.
Convent for nuns, dated from the 16th century. The Holy
Virgin's icon, whose frame was silvered by Enache Postelnicu
in 1778, is to be found in this church. Dedication
days: “The Holy Virgin's Entering the Church”, 21 November,
and “The Curing Spring”, the first Friday after Easter.

Campulung city, 64 Negru Voda street, Arges county.
Convent for monks, founded by Radu Negru Voivode in 1215,
rebuilt by Basarab I and finished by Nicholas Alexander
Basarab. All the founders were buried here. Dedication
day: “Assumption of the Virgin”, 15 August.

SLANIC Monastery -
Aninoasa commune, Slanic village, Arges county.
Convent for monks, founded during Vlad Tepes's reign.
Suppressed after 1864, it is restored in 1922 by hieromonk
Isidor Ghimpeteanu, reactivated in 1992. Dedication
day: “The Holy Virgin's Birthday”, 8 September.
