Agapia  Almas  Bisericani  Bistrita  Durau  Horaita  Neamt  Pangarati  Secu  Sihastria  Varatec 

AGAPIA  Monastery - Agapia commune, Neamt county.
Hetman Gavriil Coci, Vasile Lupu’s brother, between 1642-1647, founded Agapia Monastery, convent for nuns. The painting of the church were made by painter Nicolae Grigorescu between 1858 and 1861.
Dedication day: “The Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel”, 8 November.

ALMAS  Monastery - Garcina commune, Neamt county.
Convent for monks, founded by Vasile Almas in 1659, rebuilt in 1715 by Ecaterina Cantacuzino; the wooden church was replaced with a wall one, raised by Lupu Bals and the monk Rafail in 1821, rebuilt in 1851 by the boyar Palade.
Dedication days: “Saint Nicholas”, 6 December, and “The Sunday of all Saints”.

BISERICANI  Monastery - Alexandru cel Bun (Viisoara) commune, Neamt county.
Stefanita Voda (1517-1527) founded Bisericani Monastery, convent for monks. Church of walls raised on the place of a wooden monastery from the 15th century founded in the time of Alexander the Good.
Dedication day: “Feat of the Annunciation”, 25 March.

BISTRITA  Monastery - Alexandru cel Bun (Viisoara) commune, Neamt county.
Bistrita Monastery, convent for monks, was founded by Alexander the Good in 1407, restored by Petru Rares  (1541-1546), and then by Alexandru Lapusneanu (1554). The steeple was built by Stephen the Great (1498).
Dedication days: “Assumption of the Virgin”, 15 August and “The Curing Spring”, the first Friday after Easter.

DURAU  Monastery - Ceahlau commune, Neamt county.
Convent for nuns, founded by one Vasile Lupu's daughters, in the 17th century. The paintings were made by painter Nicolae Tonitza together with his disciples between 1936-1937.

HORAITA  Monastery - Cracauani commune, Neamt county.
Horaita Monastery, convent for monks, was founded in 1725. The church of stone raised by Ermoghen Buhus in 1867.

NEAMT  Monastery - Vanatori commune, Neamt county.
Petru Musat founded Neamt Monastery, convent for monks, in the 14th century. Alexander the Good raised the steeple in the 15th century. Stephen the Great built the big church in 1497. The Monastery contains two churches, two chapels, a museum, and a library. Cultural center renowned for its calligraphers, chroniclers and printers (Gavriil Uric – 15th century, Macarie and Eftimie – 17th century) but also for the example of monastic life (Paisie Velicicovschi – 18th century and Saint Ioan Iacob Hozevitul – 20th century).
Dedication day: “The Lord’s Ascension”, 40 days after Easter.

A monk from Bistrita Monastery founded Pangarati Monastery, convent for monks, during Voievode Ilias’s reign, Alexander’s the Good son.

Village chief Nestor Ureche, chronicler Grigore Ureche’s father founded Secu Monastery, convent for monks, in 1602.

Sihastria Monastery, convent for monks, was founded by the Bishop of Husi, Ghedean, in 1740.

VARATEC  Monastery - Varatec village, Neamt county.
Nun Olimpiada, the daughter of a priest from Iasi founded Varatec Monastery, convent for nuns, in 1785. There is here the tomb of Veronica Micle.
